Aims, Objectives:

The CRE ...
 
  • Tries to eliminate racial discrimination
  • Wants to improve the relations between people of different racial backgrounds
  • Provides information and gives advices to people, who think they have suffered racial discrimination, to help them
  • Wants to ensure that everybody gets equal treatment, by working with public bodies, businesses and organisations from all sector
  • Runs campaigns to raise awareness about different races and culture
  • Has a lot of offices in different parts of England, to be able to inform and to educate a lot of people
  • Makes sure that all new laws keep the conditions of the Race Relations Act
  • Monitors how the Race Relations Act is working and recommends ways in which it can be improved
  • Future plans
     
  • the CRE wants to start even more campaigns to improve the knowledge about racism
  • the CRE builds some more offices to raise a bigger and closer network
  • the CRE will always try to tackle racial discrimination and promote racial equality

    Minority Rights Group (MRG)

    About MRG

    The MRG was founded 25 years ago. Today it is located in London, where it is legally registered as a charity and limited company in the U.K.. It has a consultative status with the UN.

    Main Aim

    The main aim of the MRG is to secure the rights of ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities.

    About their work
     

    The MRG researches and publishes reports and other information about minorities around the world by press and internet. It educates children and teaches on minority issues in order to counter racism and prejudice by undertaking regional projects and programmes. They use their good connections to the governments to advocate the rights of minorities at the UN, in Europe and elsewhere. They work together with organisations and activists who share their aims. For example, these are non-governmental, minority based and human rights advocacy organisations or development organisations or academic and research institutes.

    ERCOMER is assisting young researchers by acting as a host institute for them. It supports communication between young researchers in different countries by organising seminars and conferences.
